Payment Information for Non-Degree Students

Paying for Courses

All non-degree students should pay in full for courses upon registration. You may pay at the One Stop with a check or money order made out to 'UMass Boston', or using VISA, Discover, or MasterCard. Please see the Bursar's Web site for information about current tuition and fees.

Your Financial Obligation

If you register for any course, and are accepted into it, you must pay for the course in full unless you:

For information about dropping and withdrawing from courses, visit the One Stop (Upper Level, Campus Center) or call the Registrar's Office (617-287-6200).

You will be financially responsible for any course for which you remain registered after the last day of add drop even if you:

  • withdraw from all your courses after the fifth week of classes,
  • withdraw from the individual course after the last day of add drop, or
  • receive a grade of "NA."

Students in their first year of enrollment who are receiving federal financial aid and withdraw from the university are subject to a different policy. For information, contact the Financial Aid Services Office.

    Residency Reclassification

If you have been classified as not a resident of Massachusetts and you wish to appeal for reclassification as a Massachusetts resident, you must file your appeal no later than the last day of add drop. Forms and information are available in the Registrar's Office. Please see the Bursar's website for information about residency or contact the Bursar (Campus teller hours: M-F 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

    Remember!

    • You are financially responsible for any course(s) for which you remain registered after the last day of add drop.

    • You are expected to attend all scheduled classes. The instructor has the right to exclude you from a course if you are absent from the first two or more classes, regardless of the registration deadline.

    • If you do not attend a course or are asked to leave, you must officially drop or withdraw from the course to avoid a failing grade.
